Four column 20hp non-condensing beam engine - stock code 11688

A finely made four column beam engine to Tubal Cain's elegant "Mary" design, serialised in "Model Engineer" magazine.

The work of a highly experienced - and prodigiously productive - engineer, a man whose work has encompassed traction engines and steam wagons; many types of unusual and complex stationary engines including triple expansion and Corliss tandem; locomotives, internal combustion engines and clocks, many of which have featured on these pages over the years.

The engine has come to us recently direct from the builder along with several other models including the "Red Wing" internal combustion engine we saw under construction on our last visit, Machining is to a high standard, fit and finish of motionwork and valve gear is good. The engine is mounted on a tiled "engine room" base, mounted on pillars to show the lower part of the flywheel when running.

Complete with acrylic glazed display cover.
