Vertical tandem compound engine - stock code 12893

A vertical tandem compound condensing engine, the work of a prolific, multi-skilled engineer whose work has appeared regularly on these pages, including his Westbury "Centaur" gas engine, heavily re-worked "Pride of Penrhyn" steam wagon, jewel-like Shand Mason fire pump and the fabulous British Mk4 tank.

This engine was started when, having seen something similar he decided to design and build one from scratch (like you do...) It has a cast iron cylinder, all brightwork is in stainless steel. The builder reports it was a challenging project, especially timing the two cylinders together.

Complete with air pump, condenser tank and dynamo, the engine runs well on air and - like all compounds - would be better yet on steam.
