I first bought this engine fifteen years ago - a beautiful looking thing, there are pictures in the archive here showing it at the time in substantially ex-works condition.
It's recently come back from the man who bought it in from us in 2005, apparently uncleaned since that time. It's rather sad to see such a nicely made engine fallen on hard times: very grubby, the paintwork is in poor condition, cylinder cladding sheets are dinged.
On a more positive note the boiler has been tested and remains in good condition, the engine steams freely and runs.
Feed is by twin injectors and hand pump fitted under the footplate. The engine is fitted with an axle pump and eccentric sheave, however there is no strap or rod for same. There is a push-fit connector fitted in the drag beam connected to the top left hand clack - this could be used for an auxiliary pump in the tender if required.
Sold as a running restoration, now would be the ideal time for a winter overhaul and repaint - there's a well-built Hunslet underneath just waiting to see the light of day again, it would be nice to see it restored to its former glory.
