In a long an eventful working life, he at one point set up and ran his own company manufacturing a well-regarded light aircraft - both he and his wife were pilots with several thousand hours logged.
In retirement he has undertaken a wide range of projects from his very comfortable, centrally-heated workshop, ranging from model aircraft through to overhauling a 4 inch scale Fowler road locomotive. In between all that, he found time to build one of our Staffords from a kit (and a very nice job he made of it, too).
The Western Steam boiler had been tested with new certification issued, needing little other than a new pressure gauge.
In excellent condition, having had little use from new, the engine steams freely and runs well in either direction.
