The control console contains pressure gauge and tachometer, steam regulator valve and feed pump bypass (the pump picking up water from a reservoir in the base of the model). A displacement oiler is fitted beside the regulator valve and a lever to disengage the lineshaft drive.
The water pump has a bleed valve to purge air from the system at startup, the boiler has a blow-down valve on the backhead to empty it.
The boiler raises steam very quickly from cold and the engine runs well - we had it going most of this morning (and steamed up all the kitchen windows in the process).
