Westbury "Vulcan" beam engine - stock code 8269

A beautifully made "Vulcan" beam engine, serialised by Edgar Westbury in the "Model Engineer" and based on a typical engine of the 1830s.

Finely machined with elegantly turned links and pillar supports, fit and finish is good throughout. The engine is mounted on a timber "engine room floor", with boiler feed pump drawing from a cistern mounted in the base.

I particularly like the detailing on this model, including the bolted flange pipe joints, finely turned steam valve handle and taper pinned collars retaining the motionwork.

The Vulcan was spotted by Mrs P as soon as it arrived, so it's currently in residence up at the house - she has a thing for old, slow-moving things. I'm told.
