Vintage horizontal workshop engine - stock code 11199

Underneath the garish paint and clumsily fitted modern parts there's a lovely vintage workshop engine just crying out for restoration here, an impressively-sized machine at nearly a yard long and weighing in at around a hundredweight.

The polyurethane gloss paint requires urgent replacement, the mechanical lubricator needs recycling for use on a miniature traction engine. The engine needs a base machined to fit - probably in wood, given its size.

The flywheel appears to be a contemporary replacement - it's been bushed to fit the mainshaft rather clumsily, it would be straightforward to make a new bush having a neater appearance once painted.

There's the potential here to produce a nice example of a large, well-proportioned engine which, with its modest bore and long stroke, would have a modest steam requirement for running.
