Victorian vertical engine with reversing gear - stock code 4161

An old vertical engine, probably late nineteenth century, a small “real” engine rather than large model and used probably to drive some small piece of machinery.

Although fairly well worn – not unexpected after possibly 120 years of use – the engine runs well and is overall in remarkably good condition, with the reversing gear still working smoothly and castings free of damage throughout. It could be coupled up to a suitably sized boiler to make a very attractive small steam plant and run as-is, alternatively there is the potential to restore into a fine-looking early engine.
