A large old model mill engine, from the proportion of the
cylinder and valve chest, the square-nutted guide bars and pattern of flywheel
it looks to be late nineteenth-century.
Turns over freely, there is pitting to the crank webs and
connecting rod, the eccentric strap and main bearing are worn. Paintwork is
unfortunate both in colour and execution, however the engine would make a
worthwhile restoration project – with the size and weight of flywheel fitted
it is likely to be an elegant slow-runner.
