Swan 2 x 2 twin cylinder launch engine - stock code 2120

A set of castings for a "Swan Double 2" twin cylinder launch engine. Originally designed by Nick Stothard, this is a twin cylinder simple engine, based on an earlier design by Clarksons or York. It incorporates pumps at each of the bedplate and Stephenson's reversing gear and would be ideally suited for a small full-size steam boat.

Work completed to date is to a good standard and includes machined bedplate, five-bearing steel crankshaft which turns freely, cylinders bored, valve chests and standards machined. The rest of the castings are either unmachined or just faced up - the only thing missing is, I believe, the flywheel. This is drawn as a simple marine-type disc flywheel and could easily be made from a slice of steel bar. (Note that there is another box of gunmetal castings not shown in the picture).

There is a complete set of original drawings with the engine, a file of CAD drawings and photographs of a complete engine.
