It's recently come back to us as part of a large collection of engines. The boiler has had a hydraulic test with new certification issued, the engine runs well on air forwards with some mechanical noise - present from new - but not in reverse; we suspect a slipped eccentric which will need resetting.
Words below are from the last time it was here, photographs opposite were taken in recent days.
A Stuart triple expansion engine with Stuart centre flue boiler, set up for gas firing - the steam plant is completed by a hand pump for boiler feed, complete with tank.
Beautifully made, the whole thing is mounted on an "engine room" floor comprising individually laid and grouted ceramic tiles. I found myself wishing the people who did our bathroom were as good...*
Test steamed when new, since then it has only run on air.
Another model from the man responsible for the Galloway's non-dead centre, Westbury diagonal paddle, Corliss tandem compound and "ME" beam engines currently in stock.
*Since the last time it was here, we're pleased to report that we now have engaged the services of a bathroom fitter with equal facility in tiling.
