Stuart Sirius generator set - stock code 1632

A rare, highly original Alco "Firefly" portable steam generator, designed for dropping by parachute, enabling radio set batteries to charged in the field. The unit coupled a Stuart Sirius twin cylinder engine to a dynamo with regulator pack, providing 8 volts at up to 4 amps for battery charging.

The unit is designed to run at 30 psi and goes very well - the engine is built onto a wet sump with dipstick and is fitted with regulator and drain cocks. The entire unit is housed in a robust metal case with webbing handle, designed so that it could be dropped by parachute along with its boiler.
