Stuart BB vertical engine - stock code 2465

Effectively a souped-up 10V, Stuart produced this enclosed crankcase vertical engine with an overhung crank mounted on a substantial ball bearing (hence "BB") for racing boat use.

This one is in grotty condition - it turns over, although in notchy fashion, almost certainly gunge in the bearing. The cylinder has been replaced at some stage, the top cover has been fabricated from brass. A small part of the crankcase has been cut away to allow access to the eccentric sheave grub screw.

On the plus side, the BB is a rare engine, particularly still sporting the distinctive rear crankcase cover. I've had three of these engine over the years, all missing the cover which is now irreplaceable.

I put this one in the "grim, but worth saving" category.
