Stuart 10H - stock code 12446

A pre-war Stuart Turner 10H horizontal engine, built before the design was changed in the early 1930s to incorporate a trunk guide, simplifying the build for beginners.

Introduced in 1924, the earlier model is of nice proportions; curvy like a No.8 rather than the later, rather boxy "trunk guide" 10Hs.

Curiously, the cylinder is mounted such that the valve chest cover is slightly out of perpendicular to the base. It appears to have had little detrimental effect - the engine turns over smoothly and runs well on air.
