Parts for 3 1/2 inch gauge "Maisie" - stock code 3551

An early stage Great Northern Atlantic to LBSC's "Maisie" design. Quality of work is a bit of a mixture showing signs of at least two and possibly more builders.

Work to comprises a set of frames complete with horns, a largely complete silver-soldered copper boiler with combustion chamber - quality of plate forming and soldering looks good - a set of copper superheaters, a set of machined cylinder assemblies complete with valves, pistons, glands, crosshead, guide bars etc, smokebox with chimney and door, quantity of valve gear including machined eccentric straps and sheaves, coupling and connecting rods, main axleboxes, reverser stand, handpump and a rather motheaten cab. Included but not shown in the photographs (I found them hiding in the box afterwards) are the axle pump with stretcher and a horrible set of part gnawed-out tender frames.

Unmachined castings include buffers, tender axleboxes and horns, dome, safety valve bonnet and dummy springs. There are three driving wheels, eight tender wheels and two pairs of wheels for leading/trailing on the engine - looks like he either couldn't count or couldn't machine wheels. Or both.

Everybody knows what a Maisie looks like, how well they go and how much I like them so I won't bore you with links to pictures in the archive or my tearful reminscences of the super one I used to own.

Drawings, book of LBSC's "words & music" and all other castings available from Blackgates Engineering.
