Part-built Allchin - stock code 2653

A part-built example of W.J.Hughes' "Royal Chester" Allchin traction engine, built many years ago by a chap who worked as a signalman on the railways. Work to date comprises:

Boiler with firehole door
Hornplates with complete with bearings and spectacle plates
All gearing, including final drive and differential fitted
Winch with cable
Tender, particularly nicely made with well formed plates and good rivetting
Chimney c/w cap and base
Front axle c/w fork and perch bracket

There is a large quantity - what appears to be most of a complete set - of mainly unmachined parts & castings, including:

Cylinder block
Valve chest
Regulator block
Safety valves c/w spring
Governor bracket
Gear selector bracket
Trunk guide
Flywheel
Wheel hubs, hubcaps and rims
Pump
Water pocket
Fountain
Set of pressed spokes and strakes
Steering worm and gear
Set works & name plates

There is a pair of boiler former plates and a rear wheel building jig, plus a clean copy of the Allchin construction manual, parts and castings are still available from Reeves. The engine has been stored for some years and has some surface rust which cleans off easily.
