Not a job for the faint-hearted this, a part-built 7 1/4 inch gauge 0-4-0 tank locomotive to Don Young's "Tug" design. This engine has been kicking around for a long time, probably under a bench where a good deal of swarf and sawdust has mingled with the oil to produce a rather horrible preservative poultice around most of the bits. At some stage in its life it appears that somebody painted the chassis, then later attacked it with paint stripper. So a good clean is the first priority!

Work completed so far comprises:

Rolling chassis with compensated brakes, screw-down handle in cab and steam brake cylinder under footplate
Cylinders, complete with slide valves and a good bit of the Walschaerts valve gear
Coupling and connecting rods
Smokebox assembly complete with chimney, petticoat pipe, blastpipe with blower ring and smokebox door with locking handles and dart
Part-made platework for cab/tanks
Set of flanged plates, copper sheet and tubes to construct boiler

Some of the work is quite reasonable, some needs sympathetic adjustment...
