A venerable example of LBSC's "Hielan Lassie", his take on an LNER Pacific. Rear axle boxes are stamped up GL 1947 - pretty sure it wasn't our own Mr Lawson (a man eminently capable of building such a thing, but barely toddling in 1947) - so it's not been a hasty build so far...
Work to date comprises a complete locomotive chassis, three gunmetal cylinders with piston valves actuated by Walschaerts gear, all valve gear erected. Smokebox assembly complete, with blast pipes. There is a complete tender in faded blue livery, along with a similarly painted cab - we suspect these have come from another Hielan Lassie, but made to a decent standard.
Work to date has been nicely done, and certainly has a nice patina of age about it! It's obviously never been derelict or rusty - it needs a good clean, but otherwise looks pretty good.
