Part-built 1 1/2 inch scale Allchin, tender, box parts - stock code 2623

A well-advanced "Royal Chester" project with a large amount of work done and, although requiring work to finish, needing negligible further expenditure. Work to date comprises:

Part-assembled boiler, consisting of barrel and outer firebox. Remainder exists as a kit of flanged plates and tubes
Wheels with axles
All gears cut and assembled
Cylinder block machined, complete with trunk guide
Crankshaft, complete with valve eccentric sheaves and straps
Expansion link and die block machined and fitted
Water pump complete with rod, strap and sheave
Smokebox, spud pan, perch bracket and chimney
Platework, including gear guards and tender
Winch drum and cable
Steering gear

There is a large quantity of finished small parts in three boxes, including a wooden toolbox and running board, mechanical lubricator, hub caps, boiler fittings, drive pins, wooden brake blocks etc. There is a complete set of drawings in good condition and a copy of the Hughes book on building the Allchin.

Work to date is, as shown in the photographs, to a high standard. The platework is extremely neatly done, with flat sides to the tender, good curved sections and accurately placed rivets. Machining is good, with fine surface finish. If completed to the same standard, with luck (and a decent paint job) it should come out something like this one in the archive.

Length 26 inches
Weight when completed approx 80 pounds
