New 3 inch scale Burrell traction engine - stock code 1960

Brand new 3 inch scale Burrell, recently completed by a professional engineer - builder of many traction engines and locomotives - to the well-regarded Plastow design and using their castings. It has been steamed once, earlier this week, for its first boiler test when it ran beautifully.

Single cylinder engine with Stephenson's valve gear. Slide valve cylinder with mechanical lubricator, governor, footplate-operated drain cocks and blower valve. Steel welded boiler with copper tubes fed by crankshaft-mounted pump and injector, two blowdown plugs to front of foundation ring. Water tank in tender with steam water lifter, hose and strainer fitted. Two speed transmission with band brake fitted to second shaft and differential behind the nearside rear wheel. Winch with steel rope and fairleads mounted to rear of tender. The tender is in stainless steel throughout.

This exceptional engine has been built, painted and lined to a high standard. It has a new boiler certificate and would be equally at home in use on the rally field or on display.
