A 5 inch gauge 14XX 0-4-2T, manufactured in China by Silver Crest Models, bought new in 2016.

Silver soldered boiler, 80psi working pressure, feed by crosshead pump with hand pump in side tank. Cylinders with slide valves - situated beneath rather than between the bores as per prototype, presumably to simplify assembly - a single drain in the valve chest replaces the normal cylinder drain cocks. Stephenson's valve gear with screw reverser in the cab. Driving wheels are keyed to axles, chassis is fitted with dummy brake and sanding gear.

The engine will require some work (unless you want to leave it on the bookcase, where it would certainly look attractive). Driving wheels don't go round - we would suspect pistons probably stuck in bores - and coupling rods have what one might deem generous clearance between bushes and crankpins.

Complete with handbook and initial hydraulic test certificate, along with maker's guarantee expiring May 2017 - apparently it's transferrable and renewable provided the engine is kept in mint, unsteamed condition.

Don't suppose they get that many claims then...
