Myford Super 7B lathe - stock code 11007

If we spend our lives telling people to buy the best locomotive that they can afford (because the cheapest ones are invariably the most expensive in the long run), then it applies to workshop machinery even more so.

To that end, the world is full of abused, worn out lathes for sale, stripped of every last piece of tooling. It's an expensive way to equip a workshop - by the time you've bought the machine, has the bed and ways reground and equipped it to a decent level, the initial purchase price can often double (and you're still left with an old, part-refurbished machine with horrible paintwork!).

In contrast, this is a Myford Super 7B in excellent condition - it's come to us from a long-time customer, a highly experienced model engineer now downsizing his workshop in retirement.

A single phase machine, fitted with useful factory options - cabinet stand, screwcutting gearbox, power cross feed and clutch - as well as having a large amount of equipment and tooling, including:

  • 3 x faceplates, large and small
  • 2 x three jaw chucks
  • 4 x four jaw chucks
  • Catchplate and driving dog
  • 4 x Jacobs tailstock chucks
  • Vertical slide
  • Milling spindle
  • Thread dial indicator
  • Clamp type knurling tool
  • Quick change toolpost with toolholders
  • Six way tailstock toolpost
  • Rear tool post with parting off tool
  • Selection of 2MT centres
