Maxwell Hemmens agricultural engine - stock code 3450

Bought by a gentleman holidaying in York in 1987, along with a Showmans engine, direct from Maxwell Hemmens as factory-built engines. They have been displayed in his model room ever since, never steamed and are in as-new condition, complete with original handbook and boiler certificate.

Coal-fired silver-soldered copper boiler, hydraulically tested to 150psi for 50 psi working pressure. Feed by mechanical pump with bypass. Gunmetal cylinder with slide valve actuated by Stephenson's gear with pole reverser on footplate. Mechanical lubricator, steam blower mounted on cylinder block.

There is a winch fitted behind the nearside rear wheel, fairleads mounted on the tender.

Maxwell Hemmens models enjoyed a reputation for high quality engineering, the company built a range of boat, stationary and traction engines.
