Historic Models "Merlin" portable engine - stock code 3458

A 1/10th scale model of an early French portable engine by Historic Models, makers of the York-Bolton steam plant I sold recently. A highly-detailed and beautifully finished model, it comes complete with a pair of travelling boxes built by the owner for the engine and its plinth.

The model is non-steaming, intended for display to which end an electric motor has been very discreetly hidden within the boiler barrel, driving the motion through a skew gear. The 12 volt transformer is missing, although generic wall-plug mounted replacements are widely available at modest cost. The motor does run, however its skew gear doesn't turn, which appears to be a loose screw in the coupling.

There is more information about the model at Historic Model's website.
