Compound launch engine - professionally machined set of parts - stock code 7865

The majority of - if not all - machined parts for a full-sized compound launch engine, the work of a highly-regarded model engineer responsible for a number of well-known, museum quality locomotives.

In addition to his work building the finest quality models, some thirty years ago he produced a design and manufactured parts for a small batch of launch engines. Several were assembled, selling at the time for around £6,000 each.

The remaining sets of parts were stored away at the back of the workshop, where they remained until we visited some years ago to collect two locomotives.

Having decided that, by now, he was unlikely ever to assemble them (the current project at the time - one of the finest beam engines I've seen - was at that time taking all of his attention, with a pair of well-advanced 10 1/4 inch gauge locomotives under the bench for when he'd finished) the decision was made to pass them on.

Work to date is to an excellent standard, the castings finely made and elegantly proportioned, cast from his own patterns.

Complete with a set of drawings, we have three sets of these available.
