Castings Rectilinear engine (set 2) - stock code 3693

Never had one of these in before and now, like waiting for a bus, two come along together. As part of Station Road Steam's ongoing commitment to protecting the environment, I will use the same words for both engines.

A set of parts and castings for James Booth's Rectilinear Engine, Anthony Mount's design published in "Engineering in Miniature". Technically interesting although commercially unsuccessful, no full-sized examples have survived (and it's debatable if the engine existed as anything more than a patent anyway). Whereas many oddball design were conceived over the years to get around existing patents in all areas of steam engine design, this one simply seems to have been the elimination of the connecting rod, which it did in a picturesque, if somewhat convoluted way.

Complete with the copies of "EIM" containing the construction series.
