An early stage 5 inch gauge, three cylinder "Royal Scot" - an ambitious project dating from the 1980s using the builder's own patterns and castings .

Work to date comprises a set of finely cast and machined drawing wheels, keyed for quartering, along with a set of unmachined castings for bogie and tender. There is most of a set of patterns, finely made, with some castings made from them.

Boiler is beautifully made - copper, silver soldered throughout, there is a smokebox tube and door supplied, along with a box of fittings including pressure gauge, water gauge, valves etc.

There is a large quantity of documentation with the engine, copies of Greenly's drawings along with copious notes by the builder.

If you can't face the next couple of years in the shed, we've just had a complete, running Royal Scot arrive - again a three cylinder engine - ready to use straight away!
