Atlas HV36 10 inch BGSC lathe - stock code 12016

An Atlas 10 inch BGSC lathe, in "barn find" condition, complete with chucks and tooling and fitted with a modern Brook Crompton single phase motor.

A substantially built, American machine - usefully larger than a Myford - with power feeds to saddle and cross slide. Enormously popular in its day, it's a credit to the design that the same basic machine was manufactured from 1936 until 1957 in largely unchanged form.

Immensely grubby, it needs a thorough clean and some restoration, although appears basically pretty sound. The motor runs, spindle turns and power feeds work.

"10 inch" is the American designation, indicating how large a part can be turned - in the UK we'd call it a 5 inch lathe, the swing over the bed.
