A 7 1/4 inch narrow gauge battery electric locomotive, in good running order and complete with a pair of 12v 110Ah batteries, battery charger and remote handset controller - there's some video of it running outside the works here.

We first saw this one at the builder's club some years ago and were taken with its well thought out design then. A "small real locomotive" in minimum gauge style, reminiscent of industrial battery powered locomotives.

Chassis is in heavy gauge laser cut steel, with steel wheelsets running in sealed takeup bearings.

The driver sits "side saddle" between two battery boxes, with the motor controller under the seat. Control is by a remote handset - the running lights switch red/white according to the direction selected, there is an electric horn to warn of approach.

An ideal addition to any garden railway relying on steam motive power - it's the work of a second to switch it on and have it running, whether to pull a dead locomotive out of the shed, marshall a train or run around to inspect the track at the start of a day's running. If only it was 15 inch gauge, it would be in the shed at home!
