A 7 1/4 inch gauge Maxitrak "Opal" 0-4-2T, something of a barn find that has come to us in sorry-looking condition.

Underneath the grime the paintwork is tired, valve gear needs rebushing, the lubricator needs a more substantial drive rod and the hand pump has something of a mind of its own.

On the plus side, the engine has a decent boiler with both past club history as well as new hydraulic and steam certification, it proved free-steaming on test.
