7 1/4 inch gauge Tinkerbell single Fairlie - stock code 2856

Having built the Garratt, it was decided that a slightly lighter engine would be nice - most of the time the railway didn't need the extra power (and coal consumption that went with it), so this one was built with a single power bogie and reverted to the standard Tinkerbell marine boiler. Considered a success by the builder, it became his favourite engine.

Steel marine type boiler with expanded in copper tubes, stainless steel superheaters. Working pressure 100psi, twin safety valves, feed by injector and axle pump. Articulating power bogie, cast iron cylinders with slide valve actuated by Walschaert's valve gear with pole reverser in cab. Drain cocks cable operated from cab, there are working sanders fitted. All wheels running in roller bearing axle boxes.
