7 1/4 inch gauge Sweet William 0-4-0 - stock code 7573

We originally sold this engine in February of last year. Brand new and unsteamed, it had come to us direct from the builder, an experienced man who has built many engines, now confined entirely to 3 1/2 inch gauge due to advancing years. Very crisply made, the only thing we did at the time was replace the water gauge, fountain and safety valves with bronze components - the safety valves are our progressive lift types, one is ample for this size boiler but the new owner fancied a second one for reasons of symmetry...

Professionally built boiler by John Rex Model Engineers with stainless steel grate. Bronze fountain with takeoff for blower and steam-operated drain cocks, there is a spare union for an injector should you want to fit one. Twin spring type safety valves with brass chimneys venting through cab roof, bronze three cock water gauge with blowdown piped below footplate.

Very crisply machined and fitted, nice details including remote oilers for the axleboxes and neat pipework throughout.

It's recently come back in exchange for a 5 inch gauge engine having been steamed on a handful of occasions, the owner having found a 7 1/4 inch narrow gauge engine a daunting prospect to load and unload single-handed. It remains in as-new condition, there's some video of it running here.
