The commercially built steel boiler by Bell Boilers has had hydraulic and steam tests with new certification issued - the tubes are in good condition, thickness readings taken at this time are satisfactory.
Boiler feed is by a pair of injectors which proved reliable on test, the safety valves proved effective at clearing excess pressure and shut positively.
The locomotive is fitted with vacuum brake equipment for the tender and train brakes. It steamed freely and ran well on test, better in forwards than reverse.
We liked this one - nice to drive, with a well laid out backhead; it goes well. The fountain shutoff and hose tail on the blowdown for filling the boiler are neat touches which make running maintenance that bit easier.
