7 1/4 inch gauge "Patentee" - stock code 4340

Sold recently, this engine was awaiting collection when the Orenstein & Koppel "Eigiau" came in - the Patentee came back (never actually having left the building) for something altogether more contemporary and Germanic.

I was smitten with this when it arrived a year or two back, so much so that it has been on a windowsill in the house ever since. It wouldn't be entirely fair to say that Mrs P shared my appreciation of it, indeed she's finally managed to get it replaced with a 3 1/2 inch gauge Royal Scot.

A 7 1/4 inch gauge model of Robert Stephenson's "Patentee" 2-2-2 class, introduced in 1834.

Silver soldered copper boiler, 90psi working pressure, feed by injector and pump. Gunmetal cylinders with slide valves, pole reverser on footplate.

Whilst a fine thing to put in the house and admire (whatever Mrs P says), the engine has an honourable history of club running and is more than capable of putting in a spirited performance on the track.
