An older engine, dating from 1984, this one has recently come in as part exchange for another narrow gauge locomotive. Well built and of attractive proportions, the lined out vermilion paintwork presents very well.
Whilst in regular service until recently, we have failed the boiler on visual inspection - the firebox stays are badly wasted, the firebox crown sheet shows heavy delamination. Whilst it may be possible to fit a new firebox, given its age we would consider it more economic to replace the boiler.
A worthwhile project - a rarely-modelled design of an attractive prototype.
