Finished in British Railways livery, the paintwork and lining were well executed and remain in good condition.
The silver soldered copper boiler has had a recent twice working pressure hydraulic test; feed is by a pair of crosshead pumps fitted with individual bypass valves and an injector, piped up to draw water from a tank mounted on a driving truck.
The engine has an effective steam brake, with spring-loaded operating valve and displacement lubricator in the cab.
