A 7 1/4 inch gauge GWR 14XX 0-4-2T, supplied new by Silver Crest Models it's come to us along with a 5 inch gauge 55XX from a long-time customer and Stafford owner.

The engine was bought new in 2019, however advancing years and back problems meant the engine has only seen occasional use at his club track in the years since.

We've hydraulic tested the boiler and issued new certification; the engine steam and runs as-is, although offering a variety of "optimization opportunities, including:

• service/replace safety valves, which both accumulate and then fail to close when the pressure drops
• repack glands
• service inoperative steam brake
• service inoperative steam-operated drain cocks

The boiler is free-steaming, the pump and injector both work well; the bottom end has the generous tolerances we've come to expect from these models.
