A beautifully made 7 ¼ inch gauge model of the Talyllyn
Railway’s “Edward Thomas”, the 0-4-2T which came to the railway from the
Corris Railway in the early days of preservation - I remember family holidays as
a child in the 1960s seeing the engine running around in its Giesel ejector
days, with the squashed dustpan chimney.
The engine is around 80% complete, work to date comprises a
very finely made air-running chassis, cast iron cylinders with Hackworth valve
gear, pole reverser in cab. The boiler is welded steel with expanded copper
tubes, completed June 2009 and complete with full club documentation for its
initial hydraulic test at 240psi.
There is a rolled cab roof in steel and cab front, complete
with brass spectacles and the glass for them. Complete with a set of drawings.
The engine needs little by way of further expenditure other
than boiler fittings and paint. It has the potential to make an excellent engine
when finished.
