6 inch scale Burrell agricultural engine - stock code 1824

Professionally built by an engineering company in the West Country, this engine was scaled up one and a half times from a set of 4 1/2 inch scale drawings, giving a 6 3/4 inch scale engine which is just under nine feet long overall and weighs around one and a half tons. The build started in 1995 and ceased on the sale of the company, leaving the engine something around 80-90% complete.

Steel boiler by Franklin & Bell with hydraulic test certificate. All steel gears, working differential and winch mounted on the rear axle. Most parts to complete are included: governor assembly, boiler fittings (washout plugs, fusible plug, gauge fittings, pressure gauge, whistle, clack valves), pump, reversing stand, regulator assembly, cylinder covers, safety valves complete, smokebox door and rings, ashpan, grate and damper rod. We are currently making the motion work and expect to have the engine running on air early this Autumn.

In addition, we have spare parts for a second engine - finished crankshaft, tender, wheels (rubber tyred), ashpan & grate, piston and rod.

We will quote to finish this engine to any stage required, right through to fully painted, lined and ready to use.

The engine is bigger than it looks here, given that the driver shown is actually 9 inch scale (our 6 inch scale driver was on the Playstation and unavailable for photography)
