Award-winning 5 inch gauge "Super Simplex" 0-6-0T - stock code 8932

A well-built example of "Super Simplex", rather a rare thing compared to the number of regular Simplices we see.

Boiler is a commercially made CE-marked job by Blackgates, built in 2010. Intially tested for 110psi working pressure, the engine has spent its life running at 90psi - we have hydraulic tested for the higher figure such that it could be put back up to 110psi if desired.

Machining is crisply done, fit and finish of valve gear and motionwork good. The engine steams freely and runs well - paintwork is good with some minor wear.

On completion the locomotive won the "Francis W Bontor" cup, awarded by the Malden & District Society of Model Engineers in recognition of engineering excellence.

An engraved shield commemorating the award remains with the locomotive.
