5 inch gauge "Simplex" - stock code 4274

First impressions of this tired looking "Simplex" are somewhat misleading - underneath the horrendous paintwork is a nicely made engine which is still in good order mechanically and runs well.

Silver soldered copper boiler, working pressure 90psi, twin safety valves - feed is currently by an axle pump and hand pump, there's plumbing in place for an injector, the injector itself is missing.

Cast iron cylinders with slide valves actuated by Walschaert's gear with screw reverser in the cab. Mechanical lubricator mounted on the offside running board. Axlebox oiling pots mounted on the front of each side tank make the job of oiling round underneath much easier.

Complete with copies of the original Martin Evans construction articles.
