5 inch gauge Simplex - stock code 3153

5 inch gauge 0-6-0T to Martin Evans' ubiquitous "Simplex" design. I last sold this engine some years back, it's been running around at a local club since, now back as part-exchange against a 7 1/4 inch gauge engine.

Horribly tatty paintwork, but underneath the engine is quite reasonable. Silver soldered copper boiler with superheaters, working pressure 100psi, feed by axle pump and injector. There is a handpump fitted in one tank, however the injector is a recent addition and has taken over the hand pump clack.

Outside cylinders with slide valves actuated by Walschaert's valve gear with pole reverser in cab (and I've no idea why Simplexes are ever fitted with anything else, the standard screw reverser is a complete pain). Mechanical lubricator.

The driving truck runs on a pair of bogies, front one braked. It's got a water tank in the back which feeds the injector and a toolbox in the front under the hinged seat.
