5 inch gauge Simplex - stock code 1621

A well-made example of "Simplex" to Martin Evans design for a freelance 0-6-0 side tank engine. A powerful engine, it makes an ideal beginners locomotive which is easy to fire and drive yet at the same time powerful enough for serious passenger hauling without holding up other engines on a club track.

The engine is fitted with a silver-soldered copper boiler fed by axle pump and injector with an auxiliary hand pump in the water tank. Outside cylinders with slide valves actuated by Walshaerts valve gear. There is a mechnical lubricator fitted behind the front buffer beam.

This engine is in fine mechanical order with little wear to the running gear - it runs very well.
