The prototypical locomotives were built in the 1950s with many still working into the 70s – several survive in preservation.
Nearly nine feet long when coupled together, it makes an imposing sight, however broken down for transport, with batteries removed, means no individual part is heavier than a small tank engine.
There is a good sound card fitted with speakers in each unit, which can be muted if required; an auxiliary horn keeping it legal for club running where "an audible warning of approach" is a requirement.
