The work of a talented engineer, we have several of his engines including a 3 inch Burrell, 5 inch gauge Simplex and 3 1/2 inch gauge "Rob Roy" - all built to a similar standard.
There is some light surface rust on the engine and tender wheels from storage, it's in otherwise as-new condition.
Fit and finish of machined components is to a high standard, platework has been crisply executed.
The copper boiler is silver soldered throughout, a finely made thing with neat flanging and good solder penetration. It's had a twice working pressure shell test at 180psi for 90psi working pressure, with certificate issued for same.
Grate and backhead assembly is all in stainless steel.
