An particularly nice example of Maxitrak's "Sapphire", their take on a Bagnall-type industrial saddle tank. Built from a factory-painted kit, with optional brass chimney cap, mechanical lubricator, brakes and tender, it was completed in 2003.

Silver-soldered copper boiler, working pressure 80psi, feed by crosshead pump and injector with auxiliary hand pump in tender - the mechanical pump is fed from the saddle tank, the injector from the tender. Gunmetal cylinders with slide valves actuated by Walschaert's valve gear with pole reverser in cab. Mechanical lubricator in cab. Screw down brake to locomotive.

The engine runs like new, it steams exceptionally well.

Before anybody writes in, yes I know the tender isn't on the rails. It was late when I took the photographs, by the time I spotted it I was in a nice warm office in front of the computer and wasn't about to go back out in the cold to take another picture.
