A 5 inch gauge 4-4-0, built to LBSC's "Maid of Kent" design - regular readers will know I have a soft spot for these engines, ran a black one of my own for some time after having seen one running at Romney Marsh Club many years ago. The 7 inch driving wheels have an almost hypnotic motion when running at speed, the leisurely gait giving an impression of effortless speed.
Silver soldered copper boiler, 80psi working pressure, feed by axle pump and injector with auxiliary hand pump in the tender. Inside cylinders with slide valves actuated by Joy gear with pole reverser in the cab. Mechanical lubricator.
We had this one in steam yesterday afternoon - it goes well, everything works as it should. A good introduction to 5 inch gauge tender engines, there's a (very) short clip of it running here.
Complete with a pair of custom made carrying boxes.
