5 inch gauge LNER V1 2-6-2 chassis - stock code 7308

A rather dusty but nicely made three cylinder LNER V1 chassis, Gresley's three cylinder tank locomotive built to Martin Evans' "Enterprise" design which was serialised in "Model Engineer". We've had these in before - including this rather good one by Keith Massey - they're a good sized engine, as much go as a decent sized tender engine but no tender to lean over.

Work to date is to a good standard and comprises erected frames, wheels in split gunmetal axleboxes, crank axle, working leaf springs with tufnol and steel leaves, coupling rods fitted. Cylinders are machined fitted, complete with pistons, rods, crosshead and guide bars. Valve gear is yet to be made, it's Gresley-Holcroft with derived motion to inside cylinder - technically interesting and nothing too big to machine.

Drawings and castings are available from our friends at Blackgates Engineering
