5 inch gauge LNER B1 4-6-0 - stock code 9414

A well-built 5 inch gauge LNER B1 to Martin Evans' well-regarded "Springbok" design. The work of an experienced engineer, it's recently arrived with us in part exchange for the Royal Scot "Sherwodd Forester".

A thoroughly sorted engine which was in regular pre-lockdown use, it steams freely and runs particularly well. Fit and finish of the motionwork and valve gear is good, machining very crisp.

Twin mechanical lubricators are fitted on the running boards - unused, although complete with working innards - the cylinders lubricated by a displacement lubricator fitted under the cab floor, with sight feeds on the backhead. Cab is well laid out and neatly piped.

Steam brakes were originally fitted - driver's brake valve and cylinder are present, brake shoes have been removed.
