The boiler has had recent hydraulic and steam tests with new certification issued. The drain cocks were unreliable and have been changed for a pair of automatics, the Polly safety valve works - as expected - flawlessly.
The mechanical and hand pumps both work well; the injector picks up wet, partly as a result of feed water heating up in the fairly narrow tanks fitted to a 45XX.
On the rolling road the engine proved free steaming and ran exceptionally well with steady, even exhaust beats - it sounded lovely!
Supplied with a starter kit of coal and oil, a set of firing irons and 12 months warranty. If required, we would be pleased to include a half day's training in the firing, driving and maintenance of the engine.
